ECM in San Mateo
ECM in San Mateo kitchens.
An ECM on a restaurant counter along 25th Avenue or B Street works much harder than one in a home kitchen. It pulls shots through breakfast and lunch, steams milk for every latte and stays switched on from open to close. On a machine used like that, the group gaskets harden in months rather than years, the steam valve seals wear from constant turning, and the filter on the water line is spent well before the date printed on it.
We arrange pickup around your hours and take the machine to our bench. There it runs through a long session much like a busy service while we check the group, pump, valves and heating, and the written quote comes before any repair. Homes around Hillsdale, Baywood and North Central follow the same steps.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Group gaskets worn through on a busy counter. A machine pulling shots all day wears its gasket and shower screen far sooner than a home machine does. Water sprays around the basket and extraction turns uneven. We replace the gasket and screen, clean the group, and suggest a replacement interval that fits your volume.
- Steam valve loosened by constant milk drinks. Constant use wears the valve seal and the spindle, so the wand drips between drinks or the knob spins loosely. We rebuild the valve and check that steam pressure holds through several pitchers in a row.
- Spent line filter letting scale into the boiler. Once the cartridge on the line is exhausted, minerals pass straight into the boiler, and on a busy machine they build quickly. We check the inlet, look inside the boiler, and tell you whether it needs a descale, new parts or only a fresh cartridge.

FAQ
ECM in San Mateo questions, answered.
-
Our restaurant on B Street has only one espresso machine. How do we plan around a repair?
Tell us your hours and your slowest days when you book, and we time the pickup and return around them. The bench diagnosis comes first, then the written quote, so you know what the repair involves before you commit. A small backup machine covers the gap. -
How often should a busy cafe change the group gaskets?
It depends on volume, but a machine pulling shots all day needs them far more often than a home machine. When the handle swings further than it used to, or water escapes around the basket, they are due. Keep a spare set on hand. -
Do you also collect home machines near Hillsdale?
Yes. Hillsdale, Baywood, North Central and the rest of 94401, 94402 and 94403 are inside our pickup area. A home ECM goes through the same bench diagnosis and written quote as a restaurant one. -
What does the ECM pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does ECM bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to ECM coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
