ECM in Hillsborough
ECM in Hillsborough kitchens.
An ECM that works well is the easiest one to keep that way. The parts that wear are known: group gaskets and shower screens, valve seals, the vacuum breaker, pump seals, and the scale that builds in the boilers. A planned service replaces them before they fail and catches a restricted path or a tired seal while it is still minor. That costs less than rebuilding a machine that was run until something stopped.
Hillsborough has no commercial district, and an ECM here may sit in the main kitchen, a butler pantry or a pool house on the estate lot. Tell us which building the machine is in and how to reach it. We run it on our bench first to record how it behaves, service it, run it again, and quote the work in writing before any of it starts.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Group rebuild on a machine that has never had one. We strip the group, replace the gasket, the shower screen and the seals on the internal valves, clean the passages, and grease the moving parts with food-safe grease. A rebuilt group seals at a normal handle angle and stops dripping between shots.
- Steam and hot water valve service. Valve seals harden with heat, and a valve that needs force to close damages its own seat. We rebuild both valves with new seals, clean the seats, and clear the wand and the tap of scale that restricts flow.
- Boiler inspection and descale. We look inside the boilers for scale, test the level probe, element and safety valve, and descale when the scale calls for it. The report tells you how fast scale is building, so the next service is set by your water rather than a guess.

FAQ
ECM in Hillsborough questions, answered.
-
Our ECM runs fine. How often should it have a planned service?
For a household making a few drinks a day, once a year is a sensible starting point. Heavier use or unfiltered water shortens that. After the first service, the scale we find inside tells us whether to move the interval up or back. -
Should we keep a spare gasket and shower screen in the house?
They are useful if you are comfortable changing them yourself. Buy the size made for your group and replace both together. Anything behind the panels, such as valves, wiring and the boilers, belongs on the bench. -
What do we get back with the machine after a planned service?
A written list of the parts we replaced, the condition of the boilers, and anything that is wearing but can wait. We also note the brew pressure and temperature settings as the machine left the bench, so any later change is easy to spot. -
What does the ECM pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does ECM bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to ECM coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
