We only use the pool house machine in summer. How should we put it away for winter?

Empty the tank and drip tray, clean the group and the wand, and store the machine indoors somewhere dry. Leave the tank lid off so it dries completely. When it comes back out, flush fresh water through the group and the wand before the first drink.

Can we fill the outdoor machine from the garden tap?

Fill it from a filtered kitchen tap or a pitcher instead. Outdoor lines can carry sediment and warm, stale water that has sat in the pipe, and the machine handles neither well. The same filter you would use indoors works here.

What we repair on the bench.

Tank warped or clouded from the sun. A clear tank left in direct sun can yellow, cloud or warp, and a warped tank stops sealing on its outlet valve. We replace the tank and its seal and check the float or level switch it sits on.
Dust and debris inside the case. Dust and leaf litter blow in through the gaps in the case and settle on the boiler, pump and wiring. We clean the inside, check the pump mount and the connectors for grit, and look for insects that moved in while the machine sat.
Electronics failing after heat and damp. Sun on top of the machine's own heat, followed by damp nights, is hard on the control board and switches. We inspect the board for heat stress and moisture, test each switch, and replace what has failed.
