On an ECM that means the case screws, the feet, the frame under the drip tray, and the electrical connectors inside, where damp air settles as the machine cools. The stainless panels hold up well. The small steel parts and plated terminals are what corrode, and a corroded connection can make a machine heat one day and not the next.

We collect machines from homes around Main Street and the harbor and from the smaller towns up the coast. On our bench we open the case, check every connector and ground wire for corrosion, clean or replace what is pitted, and run the machine through full heating cycles. A written quote goes to you first, and nothing is repaired without your yes.

What we repair on the bench.

Heating that cuts in and out. A corroded spade connector at the element or the pressure switch makes a poor contact. It heats up and loses the connection as it expands. We clean or replace the terminals, check the wire ends for heat damage, and test the machine through repeated heating cycles.
Rust under the drip tray and on the frame. Water sitting in the drip tray well, plus salt air, rusts the steel frame and screws. We clean off the rust, treat or replace the affected screws and brackets, and make sure the drip tray seats and drains so water stops pooling underneath.
Stiff or gritty steam and hot water knobs. The valve spindles can scale and corrode where they pass through the valve body, and the knob turns stiff or gritty. We rebuild the valve with new seals and a cleaned or new spindle so it opens and closes with light force.
