Rocket Espresso in San Mateo

Rocket Espresso in San Mateo kitchens.

The water tank is the least technical part of a Rocket and the easiest to neglect. Water that sits for days in a warm machine grows a film on the tank walls and the intake filter. Some owners run the tank through the dishwasher, and the heat can warp it or crack a fitting. A warped tank can hold the float or the intake at an angle, and the machine then reports low water with a full tank.

We collect from the older homes near downtown, Hillsdale, Baywood and North Central, and from the newer condos toward the bay. On our bench we clean the tank, check the float and the intake filter, and follow the water path through the pump and fill valve, because film from a dirty tank travels. The quote comes in writing before any part is replaced.

$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

  • Slimy film on the tank walls and intake filter. Standing water and warmth grow a film that clogs the intake filter and can reach the pump. We clean the tank and hoses, replace the intake filter, and check the pump inlet for debris before the machine goes back.
  • Tank warped or cracked after a hot wash. Dishwasher heat can bend a tank or crack the fitting at its base. The tank then leaks or sits unevenly, and the low-water float may not read correctly. We replace the damaged tank or fitting and confirm the float works through a full fill and drain.
  • Low-water warning even though the tank is full. A float stuck with film or scale, a tank sitting slightly off its seat, or a failing switch makes the machine think it has run dry. We free or replace the float, test the switch, and check that the tank drops into place properly.

FAQ

Rocket Espresso in San Mateo questions, answered.

  • How often should we empty and refill the tank?
Refill with fresh water every day or two instead of topping up the old. Once a week, empty it, rinse it with warm water and a soft brush, and let it dry before refilling. Keep it out of the dishwasher.
  • Is a green tint in the tank a problem?
Algae needs light and time, so green means water has sat a while somewhere that gets daylight. Clean the tank and hoses, and move the machine out of direct sun if you can. If the intake filter feels slimy, bring the machine in so the pump can be checked.
  • Do you collect from condos near the bay as well as the older homes near downtown?
Yes. All three ZIPs, 94401, 94402 and 94403, are in the pickup area. For a condo, tell us about building access and parking. Have the machine cold, with the tank emptied and dried.
  • What does the Rocket Espresso pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately.
  • How long does Rocket Espresso bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered.
  • What warranty applies to Rocket Espresso coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
