Machine shutting off on hot afternoons. A connector browned by heat, or a switch with worn contacts, can open once the case gets hot and close again as it cools. We run the machine for long sessions on the bench, check the temperature at each connector, and replace the parts that show heat damage.
Power switch lamp flickering or dead. On many espresso machines the lighted power switch carries the full load of the heating element. Its contacts pit over time, and the lamp is often the first part to go. We test the switch under load and replace it if the contacts are worn, not just the lamp.
Brittle wiring close to the boiler. Wire insulation near the boiler and the element hardens and cracks after years of heat, and cracked insulation can short to the frame. We inspect those wires whenever the case is open and replace damaged runs with high-temperature wire.
