A Rocket draws a lot of current while it heats, and much of Pinole's housing went up between the 1940s and the 1960s. Kitchens built in those decades often have fewer circuits than a newer one. When the machine trips a breaker or a GFCI outlet, the cause can be the house circuit, a kettle or toaster sharing the line, or a fault inside the machine.

On the bench we separate those. We test the heating element for leakage to ground, check wiring and connectors for heat damage, and run the machine through full heating cycles on a protected circuit. Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

Element leaking current to ground. An element can keep heating while its insulation breaks down inside. The small leak trips a GFCI outlet, sometimes only once the machine is hot or damp. We measure insulation resistance cold and again at temperature, and replace the element if it fails.
Scorched connectors at the element or switch. A loose spade connector heats up under load, turns brown, and eventually cuts out or trips the breaker. We replace scorched terminals and wire, tighten every high-current connection, and test the switch that carries the element load.
Machine that cuts out partway through heating. If the machine goes dark or the heating stops before the boiler reaches pressure, the safety thermostat may be opening or the power switch may be failing under load. We test each device in the heating circuit and replace the one that opens.
