Some Rocket machines hold temperature with an electronic controller instead of a mechanical pressure switch, and many of those show the temperature on a small display. When the reading jumps around, freezes, or the screen goes dark, the question is whether the fault sits in the controller, the probe that feeds it, or the power reaching them. A new controller is the expensive guess, so it is the last thing we reach for.
Most of Dublin's houses went up after 2000, in East Dublin, Schaefer Ranch and the newer subdivisions around them. Wherever the machine sits, we pick it up, test the probe, the wiring and the controller one at a time on the bench, and send a written quote naming the part that failed.

What we repair on the bench.
- Display reading steady while shots run cold. If the controller shows the right number but the coffee tastes sour, the probe may be reading its own spot correctly while the brew water runs cooler. We compare the display with a thermometer at the group and check the probe's seating and the offset in the settings.
- Blank display and no heating. A dead display often comes down to a blown fuse, a loose plug or a failed power supply on the board. We trace power from the switch to the controller before deciding the board has failed, and replace only the part that has.
- Buttons that no longer respond. The small keypad under the display can stop reading presses after heat and steam get behind it. We test the keypad and its ribbon connection, clean or replace it, and check that the controller settings survived afterwards.

The exact code, whether it appears at startup or after warming, and what the machine does next. Take a photo of the screen if you can. Then switch the machine off and book the pickup rather than cycling the power over and over. -
Can a controller setting be changed without opening the machine?
Usually, yes. Temperature, offset and on and off times sit in the menu on machines that have one. When the machine is on the bench we set them back to sensible values and write the settings down for you. -
