It can. Port Costa is on Contra Costa Water District water rather than EBMUD, so its mineral content may differ. Test the tap with a hardness strip and set the descaling routine or the filter from that reading, not from what works in Rodeo.

We pick up from Bayo Vista, Oleum and the rest of Rodeo, and we also take machines from Crockett and Port Costa. Rodeo and Crockett are on EBMUD water, soft to moderate. Port Costa gets treated water from the Contra Costa Water District, so a machine there may scale at a different rate. On the bench we list every worn part by priority, and the written quote shows the whole picture.

Worn group parts after years of shots. The cam, spring and seals inside a lever-operated group wear with use. The lever stiffens, the group drips, and the shot starts late. We rebuild the group with new seals and valve parts and grease it with food-safe lubricant.
Original pressure switch near the end of its life. The switch that cycles the element has contacts that pit and burn over thousands of cycles. Pressure drifts, the switch chatters, and in the end it sticks on or off. We test it under load and replace it with a matching part when the contacts are worn.
Deciding whether an older machine deserves the repair. If the boiler is sound, the rest can usually be renewed piece by piece. A cracked boiler, a badly corroded frame, or several major parts failing at once changes the answer. We lay out both paths in writing so the choice stays yours.
