On a heat-exchanger Rocket, a probe inside the boiler tells the machine when to add water. Once that probe is coated with scale, it can misread the level. The pump then runs on and on, the boiler overfills, and the steam wand throws water instead of dry steam. The opposite fault, a boiler that never refills, trips the element's safety cutout and leaves the machine cold.
Both faults usually trace back to what goes into the tank. We pick up from the ranch homes around the Village, Proctor and Jensen Ranch and from the hillside houses in Five Canyons and Palomares Hills, then run fill cycles on the bench with the case open. The written quote names what failed and what caused it, and you approve it before we start.

Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Pump that keeps running after warm-up. If the pump keeps going while the machine idles, the controller never sees the boiler as full. We clean the level probe, check its wire and connector, and test the fill valve. A machine that has overfilled for a while may also need its vacuum valve cleaned.
- Wet, spitting steam from an overfilled boiler. An overfilled boiler leaves no room for steam, so the wand throws hot water first. We fix the fill fault, drain the excess, and watch the probe read the level correctly through repeated steaming and refill cycles.
- Machine goes cold and the heating light stays off. When the boiler runs low, a safety thermostat cuts the element to protect it. Resetting it without finding the cause only repeats the trip. We find out why the boiler ran low first, then reset or replace the cutout and test the element.

FAQ
Rocket Espresso in Castro Valley questions, answered.
-
The steam wand on our Rocket spits water for the first few seconds. Is that normal?
A short burst of condensed water is normal, so purge the wand into a cloth before steaming. If it keeps spitting water for a long time, or the boiler gauge sits low while it does, the boiler may be overfilled and the fill system needs a look. -
Do you pick up in the Palomares Hills area?
Yes. Both Castro Valley ZIPs are covered, 94546 and 94552, flats and hills alike. Tell us about the driveway and where to park, and have the machine cool with the tank and drip tray emptied. -
What does the Rocket Espresso pickup deposit cover?
