Send the portafilter, the baskets and any spare parts along with the machine at pickup. On the bench we check them against the group and send a written quote.

What we repair on the bench.

Portafilter handle loose or turning. The handle is held on by a threaded stud or screw that loosens with heat and daily knocking. A loose handle makes locking in awkward and can crack. We tighten or replace the fixing and the handle, and check the portafilter body for wear.
Basket dropping out when knocking out the puck. A spring clip inside the portafilter holds the basket. Once it weakens, the basket falls into the knock box along with the puck. We replace the clip and check that your baskets sit at the right height.
Handle locking further round than it should. Worn lugs, a thin or hardened gasket, or a basket that sits low all change where the handle stops. We check each against the group and fix the one at fault, usually by fitting a new gasket of the right thickness.
