Rocket Espresso in Orinda
Rocket Espresso in Orinda kitchens.
Many kitchens in Orinda Downs, Sleepy Hollow and the country-club neighborhoods date from remodels between 1998 and 2010. A rotary-pump Rocket plumbed to a water line in one of those kitchens has a supply hose, a shutoff and often a filter cartridge that are as old as the cabinets around them. When such a machine loses pressure or leaks at the back, the line belongs in the diagnosis.
Close the shutoff and disconnect the hose, and we take the machine to our bench. There it runs on a controlled supply while we time the rotary pump under load and check the motor, the pump head and the inlet fittings. The written quote covers the machine. If the house line needs attention, we say so plainly and leave that call with you.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Rotary pump motor humming without turning. A rotary pump is driven by its own motor. When the run capacitor weakens or scale and grit seize the pump head, the motor hums and the brew gauge stays flat. We separate motor from pump to find which side failed, then replace the capacitor, rebuild or replace the head, or change the motor.
- Water pooling behind the machine at the inlet. Plumbed machines leak where the supply meets the chassis: a braided hose fitting, a worn seal, or an inlet check valve that no longer seats. The water runs back under the machine, so it often turns up far from the source. We pressure-test the inlet on the bench and replace the parts that weep.
- Steam knob weeping after it is closed. The steam valve closes a seal against a seat. Once the seal hardens or the seat is scored, the wand keeps weeping, and turning the knob harder only speeds the wear. We rebuild the valve with a new seal, dress or replace the seat, and check it under full boiler pressure.

FAQ
Rocket Espresso in Orinda questions, answered.
-
Our Rocket is plumbed into a Sleepy Hollow kitchen. Who disconnects it before pickup?
You or your plumber close the supply valve and undo the hose at the machine, and if there is a drain line, that comes off too. Keep the fittings together in a bag. The machine returns ready to reconnect the same way. -
The filter cartridge on our water line has never been changed. Could that matter?
Yes. An exhausted cartridge stops removing hardness, and an old one can restrict flow enough to starve a rotary pump. If you cannot remember when it was changed, replace it before the machine goes back on the line. We will tell you if the bench shows scale. -
Can we keep pulling shots while the steam knob weeps?
No. Switch the machine off until the steam valve is repaired. Do not crank the knob harder, which damages the seat, and book the repair before the seal wears further. -
What does the Rocket Espresso pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Rocket Espresso bench repair take?

What warranty applies to Rocket Espresso coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
