Rocket Espresso in Mountain View
Rocket Espresso in Mountain View kitchens.
Mountain View kitchens change with the ZIP. Old Mountain View in 94041 is Craftsman and bungalow remodels, Cuesta and Monta Loma in 94040 are 1950s single-story houses, and the 94043 side toward Shoreline is newer townhomes. Wherever a dual-boiler Rocket sits, its steam boiler relies on a level probe that senses water by conductivity. Very pure water from a reverse-osmosis filter conducts poorly, so the boiler can overfill or the refill can time out.
Tell us at booking what water the machine runs on. We pick it up, fill it on our bench with water of known hardness, and bring both boilers up from cold. The probe, the fill valve and the controller readings are checked in turn, and a written quote comes to you before any part is changed.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Steam wand throwing water instead of dry steam. When the level probe misreads, the steam boiler keeps filling until water reaches the wand. A probe coated in scale, a sensing circuit fooled by very pure water, or a fill valve stuck open all cause it. We clean or replace the probe, test the fill valve, and run repeated steam cycles to confirm the level holds.
- Display temperature that does not match the cup. The controller trusts a single sensor on the brew boiler. A drifting sensor or a corroded plug lets the display show the set temperature while the water actually runs hotter or cooler. We compare the sensor against a reference thermometer at the group and replace the sensor or the lead before anyone mentions a new controller.
- Hot water tap that only trickles. On a dual-boiler machine the hot water tap draws from the steam boiler. Scale in the valve seat or the outlet tube chokes the flow down to a dribble. We take the valve apart, clear the passages or replace worn parts, and check that the tap shuts off cleanly afterward.

FAQ
Rocket Espresso in Mountain View questions, answered.
-
We feed our Rocket from an under-sink reverse-osmosis filter. Is that a problem?
It can be. Water with almost no minerals leaves the level probe unable to sense the boiler filling, and some very pure water is also hard on metal parts. A filter that leaves some mineral content in, or a remineralizing stage, is kinder to the machine. Tell us your setup when you book. -
What does each of the two gauges on the front measure?
One shows steam boiler pressure and moves as the steam side heats and rests. The other shows brew pressure and should only climb while a shot is running. If the brew needle rises with the lever down, or the steam needle never settles, that is worth a look on the bench. -
Can you collect from the Shoreline townhomes as well as Old Mountain View?
Yes, all three ZIPs are in the pickup area. For a townhome, tell us about the entry and any parking rules so the carry goes smoothly. Have the machine off and cold, with the tank and drip tray empty, and include the portafilter you use every day. -
What does the Rocket Espresso pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Rocket Espresso bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Rocket Espresso coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
