Profitec in Vallejo
Profitec in Vallejo kitchens.
Profitec heat-exchanger and dual boiler machines refill the steam boiler on their own. A probe inside the boiler senses the water level and tells the pump when to top it up. Vallejo's tap water, drawn from Lake Berryessa and the State Water Project, is hard, and minerals coat that probe over time. A scaled probe cannot sense the water touching it, so the pump keeps filling: the wand spits water, and the machine may shut the pump down with a fill error.
We collect machines from the downtown Victorian and Craftsman houses, Glen Cove, South Vallejo and Hiddenbrooke. On our bench we open the case, check the probe and the boiler for scale, and look at the valves the scale reaches next. You get a written quote before any work starts, and the machine comes back tested hot.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Steam boiler that overfills and spits water. A level probe coated in mineral no longer feels the water, so the pump keeps topping up. We clean or replace the probe, descale the boiler and run several fill cycles to confirm the level stops where it should.
- Fill error with plenty of water in the tank. When the pump runs too long without the probe seeing water, the controller stops it to protect the boiler. A scaled probe, a blocked fill line or a sticking fill solenoid can each cause it. We test all three before replacing anything.
- Expansion valve held open by scale. The expansion valve returns water to the tank when brew pressure climbs too high. Scale on its seat can keep it cracked open, so pressure at the group falls short. We clean or rebuild the valve and set it with a test gauge.

FAQ
Profitec in Vallejo questions, answered.
-
Will a tank filter help with Vallejo's hard water?
Yes. A softening filter in the tank, changed on schedule, slows scale noticeably, and bottled water made for espresso machines is another option. Avoid fully distilled water, because the level probe needs some minerals in the water to sense it. -
Can you pick up from Glen Cove?
Yes. Glen Cove, Hiddenbrooke, South Vallejo and the downtown streets are all inside our pickup area. Let the machine cool, empty the tank and the drip tray, and we carry it out upright. -
Is it worth descaling a Profitec that has run on Vallejo tap water for years?
Usually, but not blind. A heavy descale can loosen flakes that lodge in a valve or a narrow fitting. We look inside the boiler first, then choose between a chemical descale and taking parts off to clean them by hand. -
What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
