Profitec in Martinez

Martinez covers 94553. Downtown and the streets off Alhambra Avenue are Victorian and Craftsman houses, Vine Hill and Virginia Hills are mid-century ranches, and Alhambra Valley spreads out into bigger semi-rural lots. An espresso machine draws heavy current and has a metal case close to water, so the outlet and the ground connection behind it matter in a house of any age.

The faults covered here are electrical and water-path problems that owners notice by feel, sound or taste: a tingle from the case, a pump that runs while nothing reaches the group, grit at the bottom of the cup. We collect the machine and test its insulation, coils and water path on our bench. Findings come to you first, and parts are ordered only after you approve.

$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

  • A tingle from the case or the steam wand. A faint tingle when you touch the metal case means current is leaking to it, through an element with failing insulation, a damp connection or a pinched wire. On a grounded outlet that fault should trip a protective device, but not every outlet is grounded or protected. We test insulation on each element and circuit and repair the fault before the machine goes home.
  • Pump runs but nothing comes out of the group. On a machine with a solenoid valve at the group, the pump can run while the valve stays shut if its coil has burnt out or its plunger is stuck. Hot water from the tap may still work, which helps narrow it down. We test the coil, free or replace the plunger, and check the wiring from the controller to the valve.
  • White grit at the bottom of the cup. Fine white or grey grit in the cup is often scale breaking loose from the heat exchanger or the brew boiler. It means the machine has been scaling for some time. We open the water path, remove the loose scale, check the group restrictor and valves for flakes, and suggest a filter or a descaling interval to keep it from coming back.

FAQ

Profitec in Martinez questions, answered.

  • Our older house off Alhambra Avenue has two-prong outlets. Can we use an adapter?
Not for an espresso machine. The ground pin is what keeps a fault in the element or wiring from reaching the metal case. Have an electrician provide a grounded outlet for the machine, ideally on a circuit that is not shared with other heavy appliances.
  • Do you pick up in Alhambra Valley and Virginia Hills?
Yes, and on Vine Hill, downtown and the rest of 94553. Semi-rural lots in Alhambra Valley are fine; tell us which door or gate to use. Let the machine cool and empty the tank first.
  • We found white grit at the bottom of the cup. Where is it coming from?
Most likely scale loosening inside the machine. Keep brewing only if the shots still flow normally, and do not start a strong descaling run, since it can free more flakes into the valves. Send it in so the water path can be cleaned out properly.
  • What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately.
  • How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered.
  • What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
