Profitec in Newark
Profitec in Newark kitchens.
Newark is mostly flat, single-story houses from the 1950s through the 1970s in the Lake area, Birch Grove and Old Town, with newer townhomes toward Bridgepointe and NewPark. The kitchens are practical, and so is a single boiler Profitec: one boiler that brews first, then heats further to make steam. It is a simple design, and its faults tend to sit in the switch between those two jobs.
If the machine steams weakly, never drops back to brew temperature, or trips its safety cutout after a milk drink, we bring it to our bench and run that brew and steam cycle several times from cold. Each stage is logged: the heat-up, the change to steam, the cool-down afterward. The findings and a written quote go to you before we buy parts.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Steam that fades before the milk is done. A single boiler holds a limited store of steam, and a large jug runs it down. Steam that fades much sooner than it used to is a different thing: a scaled element, a steam setting that cuts early, or a leaking valve bleeding pressure away. We time the steam output on the bench and repair the part that has changed.
- Brew temperature that stays high long after steaming. After steaming, the boiler holds far more heat than a shot needs, and running water through the group brings it down. If the machine is still hot well after that, or seems stuck in steam mode, the steam switch or its wiring may be at fault. We test the switch and the controller inputs and replace what fails.
- Element damage from a boiler left low after steaming. Steaming boils water off, and a single boiler only refills when the pump runs. Left heating after steam without drawing water through, the element can run with too little water around it, and the safety cutout usually trips first. We test the element and the cutout, replace what failed, and explain how to refill the boiler after each steam.

FAQ
Profitec in Newark questions, answered.
-
Our single boiler Profitec takes a while between steaming and the next shot. Is it broken?
Probably not. The boiler has to cool from steam temperature back to brew temperature, and that takes a little time. Running some water through the group speeds it up and refills the boiler as well. If the temperature never settles back to your brew setting, send it in and we will test the controller and the steam switch. -
Do you pick up from the townhomes near Bridgepointe and NewPark?
Yes. Those townhomes, the Lake area, Birch Grove and Old Town are all within 94560. Let the machine cool, empty the tank, and we collect it from your door and return it there after testing. -
