Profitec in Hayward

Profitec in Hayward kitchens.

Hayward covers 94541, 94542, 94544 and 94545. The flats through Fairway Park, Mt Eden, Tennyson and the Southland area are mostly 1950s and 1960s tracts, and the Hayward Hills above the CSU East Bay campus were built from the 1980s on. We collect from both. The faults below all start at the pump, the part that moves water into the boiler and through the coffee, and they are easy to mistake for one another.

A pump that stops, a boiler that will not fill and a breaker that trips can all look like a dead machine from the counter. On our bench we run the machine with the case open, measure what the pump delivers, watch the fill cycle and test the pump circuit. Once the fault is found, you get the findings and approve the repair before parts are ordered.

$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

  • Boiler fill that stops before the boiler is full. If the pump runs to fill the boiler and the water never reaches the level probe, the controller stops the pump and the machine refuses to heat as a safety step. A sticking fill valve, a blocked inlet or a weak pump can cause it. We test each in turn with the machine open and watch several complete fills.
  • Pump that cuts out after a long run of shots. Vibration pumps have a thermal cutout in the coil. After many shots in a row, or when the pump strains against a blockage, the coil gets hot and the pump stops until it cools. An occasional stop during a long session is the cutout doing its job. Repeated stops mean the pump is under strain, and we look for what it is fighting.
  • Breaker that trips the moment the pump starts. When the breaker holds during warm-up but trips as soon as the pump runs, the fault is likely in the pump circuit: a shorted pump coil, a damaged wire, or water that has reached a connection. We isolate the pump circuit, test insulation and continuity, and replace the damaged part.

FAQ

Profitec in Hayward questions, answered.

  • Our Profitec stopped pumping in the middle of a long brunch. Is the pump dead?
Maybe not. Vibration pumps shut themselves off when the coil overheats and start again once it cools. Let the machine rest with the power off for a while, then try again. If it stops after only a shot or two, the pump is straining against something, and that needs the bench.
  • Can you pick up in the Hayward Hills and down in Tennyson?
Yes. All four Hayward ZIPs are in the pickup area, from the hills in 94542 down to Mt Eden, Fairway Park and Southland. Let the machine cool, drain the tank, and set it where it can be carried out easily.
  • The breaker holds while the machine heats but trips when we pull a shot. What does that mean?
It points to the pump circuit rather than the heating side. A damaged pump coil, a wire rubbed through, or water on a connection can each do it. Stop resetting the breaker and send the machine to our bench, where the circuit can be tested with the case open.
  • What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately.
  • How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered.
  • What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
