Profitec in Los Altos Hills
Profitec in Los Altos Hills kitchens.
Los Altos Hills shares 94022 and 94024 with its flatland neighbor, but here the houses sit on slopes at the end of long driveways. Estates remodeled in the 1990s and early 2000s stand beside newer rebuilds, some of them all-electric. A Profitec bought with one of the older remodels may have been running for many years, and that is when rotary pumps, hot water valves and gauges start to show their age.
Long driveways and steep paths change the pickup, not the repair. Tell us where the machine sits and which door to use, and it leaves cool, drained and upright. On our bench we test the pump, the valves and the gauges under full pressure, and the findings come to you before any part is ordered.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Rotary pump seeping at its shaft seal. A rotary pump seals its spinning shaft where the pump head meets the motor. When that seal wears, water weeps along the shaft, dampens the motor end and can drip onto the frame. We replace the pump head, check the motor for water damage, and set the pump pressure again once the new head is in.
- Hot water tap that gives only a trickle. The hot water tap draws from the steam boiler through a valve and a small outlet that scale can narrow. Flow shrinks to a trickle or comes out as sputtering steam and water. We open the valve, clear or replace the scaled parts, and check the steam boiler for the same scale while it is open.
- Brew gauge stuck at zero while shots still pull. The brew pressure gauge reads through a thin line tapped into the water path. Coffee residue or scale can block that line, and the needle sits at zero even though the pump builds pressure and the shots taste normal. We clear or replace the line, compare the gauge with a test gauge, and replace it if it reads off.

FAQ
Profitec in Los Altos Hills questions, answered.
-
Our house is at the end of a long driveway up a slope. How does pickup work?
The same as anywhere else. Let us know where to park and which door to use, and have the machine cool and empty. It is carried by hand to the vehicle and returned the same way after the bench work. -
Water drips from under the machine near the pump. Can we keep using it?
Better not. Water near the pump motor suggests the pump head is leaking, and a wet motor can fail or trip the circuit. Switch the machine off, wipe up the water, and send it to our bench. -
The brew gauge reads zero but the shots taste fine. Should we worry?
Not about the coffee. A gauge that sits at zero while shots pull normally has most likely lost its signal line to scale or coffee residue. It is worth fixing at the next service, since the gauge is how you spot a real pressure problem later. -
What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
