Should a Profitec on EBMUD water still get a tank filter?

It helps. EBMUD water is soft to moderate, so scale builds slowly, but a boiler still collects minerals over years of steaming. A tank filter slows that further and costs little compared with an element.

Do you collect from the Astronauts and Gemstones streets?

Yes. The Astronauts, the Gemstones, the Islands, the Birds and the rest of 94547 are inside our pickup area. Drain the tank, let the machine cool, and we carry it out upright.

When shots taste sour one day and bitter the next, or the display shows a temperature that never settles, one of those three has drifted. The fault can pass for a heating problem, a sensor problem or a board problem, and a guess costs you a part you did not need.

Hercules is on EBMUD water, soft to moderate, so heavy scale on the element is a less likely cause. We collect the machine from the two-story homes along Refugio Valley Road, the Birds, the Astronauts or the newer places near the bay, and record brew temperature shot after shot on our bench. The written quote names the part that follows the fault.

What we repair on the bench.

Brew temperature that swings from shot to shot. A sensor that reads off, or a relay that sticks closed, makes the boiler overshoot and then sag. We compare the controller's reading with a probe of our own, then replace the sensor or relay that disagrees.
Controller that shows an error and stops heating. Controllers cut the heat when a sensor reading makes no sense. The cause can be the sensor, its plug or the wiring to it, not only the board. We check each link in that chain before a new controller goes in.
Steam side slow to recover between milk drinks. If the steam boiler takes too long to come back, we measure the element and check the steam temperature or pressure setting. An element losing output often shows it here before it fails outright.
