Profitec in Saratoga
Profitec in Saratoga kitchens.
Saratoga homes run from shaded hill properties off Pierce Road and Big Basin Way to the flatter streets toward Quito Road, the village and the Monte Sereno border. One complaint sounds at first like a grinder problem: shots keep running quicker, so the grind goes a little finer each month to hold the same shot.
Sometimes it is the beans or worn burrs. But a vibration pump that has lost strength, or an expansion valve that now opens early, lowers the pressure at the group, and a finer grind only hides it for a while. We collect the machine in 95070, read brew pressure at the group with a test gauge on our bench, and send a written price for whatever has drifted.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Vibration pump that has slowly lost pressure. A vibration pump wears gradually. Its top pressure falls a little at a time, and shots speed up so slowly that the owner adjusts the grind without noticing. We measure pump pressure against a blind basket, compare it with what the pump should deliver, and replace the pump when it falls short.
- Expansion valve that opens below its setting. The expansion valve limits brew pressure by returning water once pressure passes its setting. A weakened spring or a scaled seat lets it open early, so pressure at the group stays low. We clean or rebuild the valve, reset it with a test gauge, and check that it holds through a full shot.
- Group gasket that lets water past the basket rim. A hardened gasket no longer seals against the basket, and some water runs around the coffee instead of through it. The shot looks quick and thin, with drips from the edge of the portafilter. We fit a new gasket of the right thickness and check that the portafilter locks in firmly.

FAQ
Profitec in Saratoga questions, answered.
-
We keep grinding finer to get the same shot. Is it the grinder or the machine?
It can be either. Fresh beans and sharp burrs come first, so rule those out. If they are fine, the machine may be delivering less pressure than it did. A test gauge on a blind basket settles it, and that is the first thing we do when a Saratoga machine reaches our bench with this complaint. -
Do you collect from the hill homes off Pierce Road?
Yes, and from Big Basin Way, the village, the streets toward Quito Road and the Monte Sereno border, all within 95070. Long driveways and steps are fine. Have the machine off and cool with the tank emptied. -
How much pressure should a Profitec make at the group?
Espresso machines are usually set to deliver about 9 bar at the coffee during a shot. The gauge on the front may read a little differently from what the puck sees, so we measure at the group with a test gauge. If your machine reads well above or below that, the pump or the expansion valve needs attention. -
What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
