Profitec in Burlingame
Profitec in Burlingame kitchens.
Burlingame splits along El Camino Real. West of it, toward the Hillsborough line and the Burlingame Hills, the homes are mostly remodeled. East of it, Lyon-Hoag and the Easton Addition are older bungalows and post-war houses. A Profitec might be the newest thing in an older bungalow kitchen or one piece of a full remodel, and we handle both the same way.
We collect the machine at your door and bring it to our bench, where it runs from a cold start through repeated brew and steam cycles. Most faults only show once the machine is hot and pressurized, so that is when we open it. You get the findings and the price in writing, and you approve the repair before parts are ordered.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Brew temperature that swings between shots on a dual boiler. A dual boiler Profitec holds its brew water in a separate boiler under a temperature controller. When one shot tastes sour and the next one bitter, we look at the probe, the controller setting and the brew element. We log temperature across several shots and fix the part that drifts.
- Group gasket that leaks around the portafilter. A group gasket hardens with heat and time. Water or grounds escaping around the portafilter during a shot, or a handle that locks further right than it used to, means the gasket is done. We fit a new gasket and shower screen and clean the group while it is apart.
- Brew pressure that reads high on the gauge. Brew pressure well above the usual mark makes shots run slow and harsh. The fix is often an adjustment at the expansion valve or the pump, but a blocked restrictor or a scaled line can do it too. We measure at the group and correct the cause, not just the reading.

FAQ
Profitec in Burlingame questions, answered.
-
Do you collect in Lyon-Hoag and the Easton Addition as well as west of El Camino?
Yes. Both sides of El Camino Real, the Burlingame Hills and the streets around Burlingame Avenue and Broadway are in the pickup area. We set a time, collect the machine from your door, and return it tested. -
How often should the group gasket on a Profitec be replaced?
It depends on use. A household pulling a couple of drinks a day can often go a year or more; a heavier routine wears it sooner. Replace it when you see water around the portafilter or the handle lands further right than it did. Changing the shower screen at the same time makes sense. -
Can you just adjust the brew pressure on my Profitec?
Yes, if pressure is the only problem. We check the pump and the expansion valve first, since pressure that drifted on its own can point to wear. If everything else tests fine, we set the pressure, pull test shots, and send the machine back. -
What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
