Profitec in Lafayette
Profitec in Lafayette kitchens.
Lafayette covers 94549. Happy Valley and Reliez Valley kitchens lean toward recent remodels, while Burton Valley, the Trail and the streets south of Mt. Diablo Boulevard are 1950s through 1970s ranches with kitchens updated in earlier rounds. A Profitec in any of those kitchens holds a boiler under steam pressure whenever it is on, and a few parts exist only to keep that pressure in check.
The pressure switch turns the element off at the set pressure. If it fails to, the safety valve opens and vents steam, and a safety thermostat cuts power if things get hotter still. When one of these parts acts up, the machine gives a clear sign: a loud hiss, water under the case, or steam from somewhere it should not come from. We collect the machine and test each safety part on our bench before anything else, and you hear the results before any part is ordered.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Safety valve that hisses or vents on the steam boiler. The safety valve is the last protection against overpressure. When it opens, it is usually doing its job because the pressure switch or the controller let the boiler climb too high. Less often, scale on the valve seat makes it weep at normal pressure. We find which of the two it is, fix the cause, and replace the valve if it no longer seals.
- Pressure switch leaking from its diaphragm. A mechanical pressure switch reads boiler pressure through a rubber diaphragm. Over years the diaphragm can split, and water or steam seeps from the switch, sometimes onto its own electrical contacts. We replace the switch, set its cut-in and cut-out points against the gauge, and check the wiring that got wet.
- Stale water sitting in the steam boiler. Water in a steam boiler is only replaced as you draw steam or hot water, and steam leaves most of its minerals behind. In a machine used mostly for espresso, that water can sit for months and grow more concentrated. We drain and flush the steam boiler, check it for scale, and show you how to refresh it by drawing hot water from the tap now and then.

FAQ
Profitec in Lafayette questions, answered.
-
The safety valve on our Profitec let out a burst of steam. Is it dangerous?
The valve did what it is there for, but it means pressure went higher than it should. Switch the machine off and let it cool before touching it. Do not keep running it, since whatever let the pressure climb has not been fixed. Send it to our bench with a note of when it happened. -
Do you pick up from Burton Valley and the Trail as well as Happy Valley?
Yes. All of 94549 is in the pickup area, Reliez Valley and the streets south of Mt. Diablo Boulevard included. Let the machine cool, empty the tank, and we collect it from your door and return it there. -
Should the steam boiler water ever be changed?
Yes, now and then, especially if you rarely steam milk. Drawing a cup or two of hot water from the tap every few days swaps some of the old water for fresh. A full drain is part of a regular bench service, and it is a good moment to check the boiler for scale. -
What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
