Profitec in San Mateo
Profitec in San Mateo kitchens.
San Mateo runs from older single-family homes near downtown and Hillsdale to newer condos toward the bay, with Baywood and North Central in between. Wherever a Profitec lives, the riskiest moment in its life is a first switch-on with empty boilers: after a move, after storage with the water drained, or after the tank ran dry and nobody noticed.
An element heating in air burns out quickly, and a safety cutout trips if the machine is lucky. We collect machines that went dark after a start like that across 94401, 94402 and 94403. On our bench we test the elements and cutouts, check the level probe and fill path, refill the boilers properly, and send the findings with a written price before any part is ordered.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Element burned out by heating an empty boiler. With no water around it, an element can reach a damaging temperature in moments. The safety cutout is meant to stop that, but it does not always act before the element fails. We measure both, replace the element if it has opened or leaks to ground, and reset or replace the cutout.
- Brew boiler that will not refill after draining. Air trapped in a drained brew boiler can hold water out, so the pump runs and the gauge moves but the boiler stays partly empty. We bleed the air out through the group, confirm the boiler is full, and only then let the elements heat.
- Pump that lost its prime after the tank ran dry. When the tank empties during use, the pump pulls air and may not pick water up again even after a refill. It rattles and delivers little. We prime it from the intake side, check the intake hose and any check valve on it, and measure pressure once water flows steadily.

FAQ
Profitec in San Mateo questions, answered.
-
How should we switch on our Profitec after it has been stored drained?
Fill the tank first, then follow the first-start steps in the manual, which make sure the boilers have water before the elements heat. If the machine shows a fill error or the pump runs without water flowing, switch it off and call us. Heating an empty boiler is the one mistake that reliably costs an element. -
Can you pick up from a condo building near downtown San Mateo?
Yes. Let us know about the entrance, parking and any building rules when you book, and we plan around them. Have the machine cool with the tank empty, and it comes back to the same unit. -
Our Profitec heated for a moment and then went dark. What happened?
Most likely a safety cutout tripped, and the usual reason is a boiler with too little water around the element. Leave it off. Resetting the cutout and trying again can finish off an element that survived the first time. Send the machine in and we will find out whether the element, the cutout or both need replacing. -
What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Profitec bench repair take?

What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
