Profitec in Moraga

Profitec in Moraga kitchens.

Moraga sits in a canyon behind the Oakland hills, and winter mornings under the trees in Campolindo or Sanders Ranch run cool and damp. A Profitec in a cold kitchen takes longer to reach a stable temperature, and the heavy brass group is the last part to catch up. That slow start is normal. A machine that heats and then refuses to settle is a different matter.

We collect from anywhere in 94556, from Rheem Valley and the Saint Mary's College side to the Moraga Country Club streets, and bring the machine to our bench. It starts there from room temperature, the way it would at home on a winter morning. We log how each boiler climbs and holds, then send what we found along with a written repair price.

$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

  • Steam boiler that stops filling on the first heat of the day. A dual boiler Profitec fills its steam boiler automatically. On many machines with an automatic fill, the controller stops the fill if it runs too long and keeps the heating off to protect the element. A weak pump, a scaled fill valve or a tank sensor that reads empty can each cause it. We time the fill on the bench and fix whichever part is slow.
  • Steam wand that draws milk back into the boiler. If the wand is left sitting in the jug while the machine cools, the vacuum inside the boiler can pull milk up the wand. It sours in the tube and the boiler, and the steam starts to smell. We clean the whole steam path, replace any tube that keeps the taint, and check the vacuum breaker that should let air in first.
  • Temperature sensor that reads a few degrees off. The controller holds the brew boiler at whatever its sensor reports. A drifting sensor, or a loose plug on its lead, makes the machine hold the wrong temperature while the display looks calm. We compare the boiler with a reference thermometer, reseat or replace the sensor, and repeat the check once the machine is back together.

FAQ

Profitec in Moraga questions, answered.

  • Our Moraga kitchen is cold on winter mornings. Is a long warm-up on the Profitec a fault?
No. A cold room adds to the time any espresso machine needs, and the group heats last. Give it a full warm-up before judging the shots. If the boilers reach temperature but the reading keeps wandering after that, a bench test is the next step.
  • What does a fill error on our dual boiler display mean?
The steam boiler did not fill in the time the controller allows, so the heating was held off. Check that the tank has water and sits fully down in its place. If the error comes back with a full tank, the pump, the fill valve or the tank sensor needs a look on our bench.
  • Can you collect from the Moraga Country Club streets?
Yes. The club streets, Campolindo, Sanders Ranch and Rheem Valley all sit in 94556, and all of it is in our pickup area. Have the machine cool with the tank emptied, and we handle the carrying.
  • What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately.
  • How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered.
  • What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
