Belmont climbs from the flats near El Camino Real up the hills along Ralston Avenue, with ranch and split-level homes lower down and newer houses higher on the slope. A dual boiler Profitec is heavy, and carrying one down front steps is part of the job. We take it out cold and empty, keep it level, and bring it to our bench.
There we start it from cold, run brew and steam cycles back to back, and watch the inside of the machine while it is hot and pressurized. Leaks, weak pressure and heating faults can look alike from the outside, so we keep testing until the failed part is clear. The findings and the repair price then come to you in writing, and parts are ordered only after you say yes.

What we repair on the bench.
- Water under the machine after it was moved. Moving a machine, even across the kitchen during a remodel, can shift a hose or loosen a fitting that was fine for years. If water shows up under the case afterward, stop using it. We open the case, find the joint that is weeping, and reseat or replace the fitting and its seal.
- Expansion valve that opens during every shot. The expansion valve relieves brew pressure above its setting. If it opens and dumps water into the tray each time you pull a shot, either it is set too low or the pump is pushing too hard. We check brew pressure at the group, reset the valve, and replace it if the seat is worn.
- Pressure gauges that disagree with the machine. Profitec machines with gauges show pump and boiler pressure on the front. A needle that sticks, reads zero with the boiler hot, or never returns to rest may be a failed gauge or a blocked line feeding it. We test against a reference gauge before replacing anything.

Yes. Hillside homes in Belmont Heights and Sterling Downs are part of the pickup area, as are the condos and rentals on the flatter side. Let the machine cool, empty the tank and drip tray, and we carry it out level and bring it back to the same door. -
What should go with the machine when it goes to the bench?
The machine, one portafilter with a basket, and a short note on what it is doing wrong and when it started. Leave the grinder, tamper and pitchers at home. If the fault shows only at certain times, like after the first shot or while steaming, write that down too. -
