The group gasket and shower screen, the seals in the steam valve, and on some machines the pump. None of these point to a bad machine. They are wear parts, and replacing them on time keeps the bigger parts, the boiler and the element, out of trouble.

On a single boiler, is it bad to steam right after a shot?

No, that is how the machine is meant to work. Expect a short wait while the boiler climbs to steam temperature. After steaming, bring the boiler back down by running water through the group until it stops sputtering, so the next shot is not brewed with water that is too hot.

Dublin sits at the 580 and 680 interchange, and most of its housing went up after 2000, much of it in East Dublin, Schaefer Ranch and the newer subdivisions. A younger Profitec tends to fail in small ways first: a gasket, a valve seat, a steam thermostat. Small faults are still worth catching early, because a drip left alone turns into scale and scale turns into a stuck valve.

A single boiler machine brews and steams from the same boiler, one after the other. After a shot you flip to steam and wait while the boiler heats past brew temperature, and a separate thermostat or the controller's steam setting takes over. That hand-off is where many single boiler faults show up. We collect the machine, run it through several brew and steam cycles on our bench, and send you the findings before parts are ordered.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

No steam after switching from brew mode. When the steam switch is on, a second thermostat or sensor lets the boiler climb well past brew temperature. If that thermostat fails, or the switch contacts wear, the machine holds at brew heat and the wand gives only wet, weak vapor. We test the switch, the thermostat and the wiring between them, and replace the part that fails.
Shots that run fast with the gauge reading low. A vibration pump that has worn, or one starved by a kinked intake hose, cannot build full pressure, and shots gush even with a fine grind. We measure pump pressure with a gauge on a blind basket, check the intake path and the expansion valve setting, and replace the pump only if it is the cause.
Slow drip from the group while the machine idles. A group that keeps dripping after the shot ends may have a solenoid valve that no longer seals, or a worn seat in the group's own valve. Water that keeps passing also carries scale into places it should not reach. We find which seal leaks with the machine hot, then rebuild that valve.
