Profitec in San Carlos
Profitec in San Carlos kitchens.
San Carlos homes range from 1950s tracts in White Oaks and Devonshire to remodels west of El Camino and newer townhomes near Laurel Street. On many Profitec machines the brew lever works a cam inside the group, and the cam needs a thin film of food-safe grease to move cleanly. When that grease washes out, the lever lets you know: it squeaks, feels gritty or needs more force.
Left alone, a dry cam wears its contact points and the valves it presses on, and a small lubrication job turns into a group rebuild. We collect the machine from your door, open the group on our bench, clean and regrease the cam, and replace any worn valve seals. You get the findings and a written price before we go past the cleaning.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Brew lever that squeaks or feels gritty. Backflushing with detergent cleans the group but also strips grease from the cam. Over time the lever turns stiff and gritty. We take the group apart, clean the cam and its seat, apply fresh food-safe grease, and check that the lever returns smoothly under pressure.
- Worn cam that leaves the group valves half open. A cam that has run dry wears flat spots. The valves inside the group then open only partway, so flow drops or the group drips after the lever comes down. We replace the cam and the valve seals together and test the group through a series of shots.
- Group gasket and shower screen due together. The group gasket hardens and the shower screen clogs at roughly the same pace. Changing both while the group is open saves a second trip to the bench. We fit a new gasket, clean or replace the screen, and check that the portafilter locks in at the right angle.

FAQ
Profitec in San Carlos questions, answered.
-
Our Profitec's brew lever has started to squeak. Can we keep backflushing?
Yes, but ease off the detergent backflush for now, because it strips what grease is left. Plain water backflushes are gentler. The real fix is a clean and regrease of the cam, which is a small bench job if the cam itself is not worn. -
Do you pick up in White Oaks and Devonshire?
Yes, and downtown near Laurel Street and west of El Camino. All of 94070 is in the pickup area. We arrange a window, carry the machine out cool and empty, and bring it back once it has passed its tests. -
How often does the cam in the group need new grease?
It depends on how often you backflush with detergent and how many shots the machine makes. A household machine usually gets it at each maintenance service, along with the group gasket and shower screen. If the lever starts to squeak or drag before then, bring the service forward. -
What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
