Profitec in Alameda

Profitec in Alameda kitchens.

Alameda kitchens run from Gold Coast Victorians and the Craftsman blocks off Park Street to the 1970s and 1980s townhomes on Bay Farm Island. A Profitec fits into any of them, and the faults it develops depend more on the machine inside the case than on the house around it. A heat exchanger machine, a dual boiler and a single boiler each fail in their own ways, and the bench work starts from that.

We collect the machine from your door, on the main island or on Bay Farm, and bring it to our bench. There it runs from a cold start. We watch it heat, pull shots, open the steam valve, and look inside while it is hot and under pressure. Then you get our findings and a written repair price, and nothing is ordered until you approve it.

$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

  • Boiler pressure that drifts on a heat exchanger machine. On a heat exchanger Profitec, one boiler makes steam and also heats the brew water passing through it. When the pressurestat wears or its contacts pit, boiler pressure wanders and shot temperature wanders with it. We read the gauge through several heat cycles, check where the switch cuts in and out, and replace it only when it is out of range.
  • Drip tray that fills while the machine sits idle. Some water in the tray during warm-up is normal, since heated water expands and the expansion valve lets the extra out. A tray that keeps filling once the machine is hot and idle points somewhere else: a valve seat that no longer closes, a scaled check valve, or a weeping fitting. We find which one with the covers off and the boiler hot.
  • Steam wand that hisses after the valve is closed. A steam valve that will not shut fully usually has a worn seal or a scaled seat. Left alone, it bleeds boiler pressure and drips on the counter. We rebuild the valve with new seals, clean the seat, and test it at full steam pressure before the machine leaves the bench.

FAQ

Profitec in Alameda questions, answered.

  • Can you pick up from a Bay Farm Island townhome?
Yes. Bay Farm Island and the main island are both in the pickup area, from South Shore to the Gold Coast. Let the machine cool, empty the tank and the drip tray, and we carry it out and bring it back to the same door once the repair is done.
  • My heat exchanger Profitec tastes burnt on the first shot of the morning. Is that a fault?
Not always. A heat exchanger machine that idles hot lets the water resting in the exchanger overheat, and a short flush through the group brings it back down. That is normal use. If the taste stays burnt after a flush, the boiler pressure or the pressurestat may be off, and the bench test shows which.
  • Should I descale my Profitec before sending it in?
No. If scale is part of the problem, we want to see it where it formed. A descaling run on a machine with partly blocked valves can shake flakes loose into the lines and make the fault harder to trace. Send it as it is, with a note on what changed and when it started.
  • What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately.
  • How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered.
  • What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
