Profitec in Castro Valley
Profitec in Castro Valley kitchens.
Castro Valley has two kinds of houses. The flats around the Village, Proctor and Jensen Ranch are mid-century ranch homes, and Five Canyons and Palomares Hills are hillside tracts from the 1990s and later. A heat exchanger Profitec, with one boiler doing both the brewing and the steaming, behaves the same in either kitchen, and it has habits worth knowing.
The boiler sits at steam pressure, so brew water can run hot after the machine idles. A short flush fixes that, and it is normal. When the flush stops helping, or the boiler pressure wanders on the gauge, something inside has changed. We collect the machine, test it on our bench, and send the findings and a written repair price before ordering parts.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Heat exchanger shots that stay too hot after a flush. If a normal cooling flush no longer brings shot temperature down, the boiler may be set too high or the pressurestat may be switching late. Scale in the heat exchanger or the group loop upsets the balance too. We check boiler pressure, the switching points and the water path, then adjust or clean what is off.
- Pump noise that rises as the tank empties. A pump that gets louder toward the bottom of the tank is often drawing air past a loose intake hose or a clogged intake filter. Running on air wears the pump. We reseat the hose, replace the filter screen and measure what the pump delivers before deciding whether it needs replacing.
- Water leaking from the top of the group while brewing. The lever-operated group on many Profitec machines has valves and seals inside that wear with use. A leak from the top of the group, or a lever that feels stiff, means the internal seals and the cam need attention. We strip the group, replace the seals, grease the cam with food-safe lubricant and test it hot.

FAQ
Profitec in Castro Valley questions, answered.
-
Why do I have to flush my heat exchanger Profitec before a shot?
The boiler sits at steam temperature, and water resting in the heat exchanger gets hotter than coffee wants. A short flush through the group brings in cooler water. After an idle stretch that is expected; needing a long flush every single time is a sign to have the machine checked. -
Can you pick up from Palomares Hills and Five Canyons?
Yes, and from the Village, Proctor, Jensen Ranch and the rest of 94546 and 94552. We agree on a window, carry the machine out cool and empty, and bring it back to the same door. -
Is a noisier pump a reason to stop using the machine?
A sudden change in pump noise is. Refill the tank and check that the intake hose reaches the bottom. If it is still loud or the shots come out weak, stop using it before the pump wears further, and send it to our bench. -
What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
