Our Profitec shuts itself off in the afternoon. Is that a setting or a fault?

If it happens at about the same time each day, it is almost always the standby timer. Change the setting and see whether it stops. If the machine shuts off at odd times, or will not reheat after it does, send it in so the controller and safety parts can be tested.

The screw holding our shower screen will not budge. Should we force it?

No. A seized screw strips easily, and a damaged thread in the group is a much bigger repair than a stuck screw. Stop before the head rounds off, and send the machine to our bench, where the screw can be freed with heat and the right tool.

Machine that switches itself off in the afternoon. Many machines with a controller have a standby or energy-saving timer that shuts the heat off after a set time. If yours goes dark at the same point every day, check that setting first. If it shuts off at random, a safety thermostat, a failing relay or the controller itself is more likely, and we test each on the bench.
Shower screen screw seized with scale. The screw that holds the shower screen and dispersion plate to the group sits in hot water and coffee oil every day. Scale can lock it in place, and forcing it strips the head or damages the group threads. We free the screw with heat and the right bit, clean the dispersion plate, and fit a new screw and screen.
Pressure switch that clicks on and off in quick bursts. A mechanical pressure switch should turn the element on and off at a steady, slow rhythm. Worn contacts or a sticky diaphragm make it chatter, clicking rapidly while boiler pressure wanders, and chattering contacts burn themselves further. We replace the switch, set it against the gauge, and check the wiring it feeds.
