The gauges on a Profitec are useful until they start raising questions. The brew gauge reads higher than you expect, or lower than it used to, or the needle jumps during the shot. Sometimes the gauge itself is the fault. Often the pressure behind it has changed: a pump losing strength, an expansion valve opening at the wrong point, or a partial blockage in the water path.
We collect from Bayo Vista, the streets around Oleum, Crockett and Port Costa. On our bench we fit a test gauge at the group, compare it with the machine's own gauge and trace any difference to the part that causes it. The written quote follows, and nothing is ordered until you approve it.
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Brew gauge that disagrees with a test gauge. Gauges drift or stick with age, and the small line feeding one can clog with scale or coffee oil. We check yours against a test gauge at the group, then clear the line or replace the gauge if it reads wrong.
- Expansion valve that opens too early or too late. Set too low, it bleeds off pressure and shots run fast and thin. Set too high or stuck, pressure climbs past what the coffee needs. We clean the valve, then set it with a test gauge on a blind basket.
- Needle that jumps during the shot. A fluttering brew gauge can mean air in the water path, a pump struggling to draw from the tank or a sticky check valve. We run the machine from a full tank, watch the needle and replace the part behind the jump.

FAQ
Profitec in Rodeo questions, answered.
-
Our brew gauge reads about 12 bar during a shot. Is that too high?
It is above the usual target of about 9 bar at the coffee. The gauge on the front and the pressure at the puck can differ, so we measure at the group before adjusting the expansion valve. -
We live in Port Costa. Do you still pick up?
Yes. Port Costa and Crockett are inside our pickup area along with Rodeo. Port Costa is on Contra Costa Water District water rather than EBMUD, so tell us what water your machine has used; it helps us read what we find in the boiler. -
Can we adjust the expansion valve ourselves?
On some machines it is within reach, but setting it without a test gauge is guesswork, and it sits next to hot, pressurized parts. We set it on the bench with a gauge on a blind basket and note the final reading on your quote. -
What does the Profitec pickup deposit cover?
$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. The deposit is not credited toward the repair. Repair work is quoted separately. -
How long does Profitec bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Profitec coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
