Brew group seal wear and drainage valve faults. High-count X8 and GIGA units wear the brew group seals and the drainage valve, and the symptoms creep in: weaker crema, puddling in the drip area, grounds where they should not be. I rebuild the brew group with fresh seals and service the drainage valve as a set, because doing one without the other is a return visit waiting to happen.
Thermoblock and fluid system scale. On Peninsula water an office Jura scales its thermoblock and valves even with the filter cartridge in place, showing slow flow, temperature complaints, and heating errors. I descale the fluid system properly, verify flow rate at the outlet, and reset the water hardness programming to match reality instead of the factory default.
Grinder wear and dose inconsistency. When drinks turn sour and fast one week and bitter the next, the ceramic burrs on a high-volume GIGA or WE8 have usually worn past adjustment. I replace the burr set, recalibrate the grind, and check the dosing so the machine pours consistently again, which is the entire reason an office bought a Jura.
