- Brew unit wear from shared-use volume. A clubhouse or office machine used by dozens of people instead of one household wears its brew unit and seals faster than the cycle count on a home unit would suggest. I rebuild the unit and replace the worn seals before it starts leaking into the tray.
- Descaling and thermoblock scale. Foster City draws the same hard water as the rest of the Peninsula, and a shared machine that never gets a break to cool scales its thermoblock faster. I run a full descale and check the heat-up time against spec.
- Ceramic grinder burr and dose drift. High turnover on a clubhouse machine wears the ceramic burrs down within a year or two, and residents notice the coffee going weak before anyone thinks to check the grinder. I replace the burrs and recalibrate the dose.
