Slayer in Portola Valley
Slayer commercial service.
Portola Valley has almost no commercial storefronts beyond its small town center off Alpine Road and Portola Road, so the Slayer machines we see in 94028 sit mostly inside private kitchens on wooded acreage properties and whatever event kitchen gets set up for a gathering. A Slayer Espresso 2 group asked to run for a full morning of guests is not built to sit unused for weeks in between, and both extremes take a toll on the same seals and valves.
From San Ramon it is roughly 50 to 60 minutes on 680 south and then 92 or 280 to reach 94028. We show up, run the machine to see the fault for ourselves, and put a quote in writing before any tool touches it. Some properties toward the outer roads run on well water rather than the treated municipal supply, so we check what is actually feeding the machine before we assume the usual scale pattern.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Brew needle valve and actuator. Flow profiling on a Slayer lives or dies in the needle valve, and a machine that sits quiet for stretches between gatherings is prone to a sticky lever and vague profiling when it finally gets asked to work. We rebuild the valve and actuator and reset the travel so profiling is accurate again.
- Group seals and gaskets. Municipal supply or well water off an outer road, either one wears down group gaskets given enough time and use. Once the shot starts leaking around the portafilter head, we pull and replace the group seals and gaskets rather than patching one at a time.
- Descaling and water filtration. A boiler slows and the solenoid drags once scale builds up, and a well-fed property does not always scale the same way a municipal one does. We check the actual water source, run the descale, and fit an inline filter matched to what is really feeding the machine.
- Boiler element and probe. When the steam boiler will not hold heat, or the temperature drifts instead of holding steady, an element or a level probe has usually failed. We test each one, replace whichever is bad, and confirm the boiler recovers properly before signing off.

FAQ
Slayer in Portola Valley questions, answered.
-
How fast can you get to Portola Valley, and do you cover after hours?
From San Ramon it runs about 50 to 60 minutes into 94028, down 680 south and across on 92 or 280. A machine going down ahead of a gathering costs the host real money, so after-hours and weekend calls are on the table when time is tight. -
Do you keep Slayer parts on hand, or is everything special order?
The van carries the wear items that fail most, group gaskets, brew seals, solenoid rebuild kits. The specialty Slayer parts, needle valve internals, control boards, heating elements, we order through Slayer directly, which usually takes a day or two. -
What should I expect a repair to cost?
The $75 diagnostic goes away once you approve the repair. Nothing happens without a written quote first, so the invoice never surprises you.
