Slayer in Hercules
Slayer commercial service.
What sets a Slayer apart is flow profiling: the needle valve and its actuator shape the pre-infusion ramp before full pressure arrives. Those parts wear. When the barista loses control of the ramp, the flow feels notchy through the actuator, or every shot pours the same however the paddle is set, the needle valve assembly is the place to look.
Hercules is on EBMUD water, soft to moderate, so we look at wear before scale. We pick up from the Waterfront District, from along San Pablo Avenue and Refugio Valley Road, and from the rest of Hercules. On the bench we rebuild or replace the needle valve assembly and reset the group so the profile holds, once you have approved the written quote.

Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Pre-infusion ramp that no longer responds. When the needle valve wears or picks up debris, adjustments stop changing the ramp. We strip the valve, clean the seat, replace worn parts or the whole assembly, and set the group so the profile repeats shot after shot.
- Actuator that catches or sticks. The actuator should move smoothly through its range. When it catches or jumps, the flow changes in steps instead of a curve. We clean and lubricate the linkage, replace worn parts, and check the movement across the full range.
- Debris from the water line lodged in the needle valve. Sediment loosened by a new water connection or a filter change can lodge in the needle valve and upset the flow. We clear the valve, check the inlet filter, and flush the group before resetting the profile.

FAQ
Slayer in Hercules questions, answered.
-
Can a worn needle valve be rebuilt, or does it need replacing?
Often it can be rebuilt with new seals and a cleaned seat. If the needle or the seat is scored, the assembly is replaced. Needle valve parts come through Slayer, and the quote tells you which route applies. -
Why do our shots taste the same no matter how we set the profile?
When the needle valve stops responding, the pre-infusion ramp stays wherever the valve stuck. Check the grind and dose first. If those are right and the ramp still does not change, the valve assembly needs a bench check. -
Do you collect from the Waterfront District in Hercules?
Yes. The Waterfront District is covered along with the rest of Hercules. Close and disconnect the water line, drain the machine, and take out the portafilters before we arrive. Mention stairs or a long walk from parking so we bring the right cart. -
What does the Slayer pickup deposit cover?
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. -
How long does Slayer bench repair take?

What warranty applies to Slayer coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
