Slayer in Palo Alto

Slayer commercial service.

Palo Alto coffee runs hard. University Avenue downtown in 94301, the California Avenue business district in 94306, and the cafes serving the Stanford Research Park and office crowd off Page Mill in 94304 all see steady all-day pulls. A Slayer Espresso 3 group on University takes constant duty, and a tech-corridor cafe can't afford a group down during the lunch and meeting rush. Flow profiling drift and group leaks show up fast on machines worked this hard.

From San Ramon we head down 680 to 84 across the Dumbarton, roughly 45 to 55 minutes depending on the bridge. We're an independent shop, not factory-authorized for Slayer, and we quote in writing before we open the machine. Peninsula water is hard, so scale on the boiler element and probe drives a lot of the failures we see here, which puts descaling and filtration on most tickets.

$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. Repair parts are covered for 6 months; consumables are covered for 90 days.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

  • Needle valve and actuator rebuild. High-duty downtown machines wear the flow control needle valve and actuator. When profiling goes vague, we rebuild the valve and source actuator parts through Slayer.
  • Group seals and gaskets. Constant pulls on a 3 group chew up group seals fast. Leaks and channeling get fixed with fresh gaskets and a proper portafilter check.
  • Pump and control board. Pressure that won't hold or erratic machine behavior can be a failing pump or control board. We test the circuit and replace the failed component, boards through Slayer.
  • Descaling and filtration. Hard Peninsula water scales the element and probe. We descale and dial in filtration so temperature stability comes back and stays.
