Slayer in Clayton
Slayer commercial service.
A Slayer is a boiler and electronics machine, and Clayton summers are hot and dry. On a hot afternoon the room, the boilers and a long run of shots all add heat under the panels. Control boards, relays and wiring age sooner when they run hot, and a marginal part tends to give out on the hottest days first.
Clayton is on Contra Costa Water District water drawn from the Delta. Test its hardness before choosing filtration rather than relying on a guess. We pick up from anywhere in Clayton, at the foot of Mount Diablo next to Concord. On the bench we run the machine hot until the fault shows, then quote the repair in writing.
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Control board faults that appear only in the heat. A failing component or a cracked solder joint can work in the morning and drop out in the afternoon. We run the machine hot on the bench, watch for the fault, and repair or replace the board once it shows itself.
- Relay contacts worn from switching the element. The relay that switches the element opens and closes all day. Its contacts pit and stick, and the boiler either overheats or never heats. We test the relay under load and replace it with the correct part. A relay stuck closed leaves only the safety cutout between the element and overheating, so we test that cutout as well.
- Heat-hardened wiring near the boiler. Insulation close to the boiler hardens and cracks after years of heat. We inspect the wiring with the panels off, replace damaged runs, and secure them away from hot surfaces.

FAQ
Slayer in Clayton questions, answered.
-
Our Slayer acts up on hot afternoons. Is that the machine or the room?
Both can play a part. Check that the vents are clear and the machine has space behind it. If it still faults in the heat, a component on the edge of failing is showing itself, and the bench is where we can catch it. -
What water filtration suits a Slayer on CCWD water?
Test the tap first. Clayton gets Contra Costa Water District water from the Delta, and the filter should match the hardness you measure and your volume. Good filtration protects the solenoids, the probe and the element. -
Should we turn the Slayer off overnight in summer?
If it is not needed, yes. The electronics get a rest from the heat and the element from cycling. Switch it on early enough before opening for the boilers and groups to settle. -
What does the Slayer pickup deposit cover?
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. -
How long does Slayer bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Slayer coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
