Slayer in Benicia
Slayer commercial service.
A Slayer holds brew temperature by reading a probe in the boiler and switching the element. When scale coats the probe, the reading lags, the temperature overshoots and sags, and the machine may throw a probe error or refuse to heat. Benicia's water is moderately hard and changes with its source, so the rate of scaling changes too.
We collect from First Street and the downtown waterfront, from the studios and offices in the Arsenal Historic District, and from the rest of Benicia. On the bench we compare the probe's reading with a reference thermometer, test the element, and check the control board's output before we quote. Line-voltage work on the boiler, element and heater wiring falls under our CSLB #1136642 license.

Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Probe error or a boiler that will not heat. A scaled or failed probe gives the board a reading it cannot trust, and the board stops heating to protect the machine. We clean or replace the probe, check its wiring, and watch the machine come up to temperature on the bench.
- Brew temperature overshooting and sagging. When the probe reacts late, the element keeps heating too long and then rests too long, so shots swing between hot and flat. We confirm the swing with a reference thermometer, then fix the probe or the setting that causes it.
- Scale building unevenly as the water changes. A descaling interval that worked last year can fall behind when the supply turns harder. We check the boiler, probe and valves for scale, descale as needed, and suggest filtration that evens out the changes.

FAQ
Slayer in Benicia questions, answered.
-
Does Benicia's changing water mean our Slayer needs descaling more often?
Sometimes. When the blend turns harder, scale builds faster, so test the water a few times a year and adjust. Good filtration on the inlet makes the schedule far more predictable. -
Our Slayer shows a probe error in the morning and then it clears. Should it come in?
Yes. An error that clears once the machine warms can point to a probe or a connector on its way out. Note when it appears and what the display says, and send the machine in before the fault stops clearing. -
Is the Arsenal Historic District in your pickup area?
Yes, along with downtown and the rest of Benicia. Tell us the building, the door closest to the machine and who will meet us. Have the water line shut off and disconnected and the machine cooled down. -
What does the Slayer pickup deposit cover?
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. -
How long does Slayer bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Slayer coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
