Slayer in Oakland

Slayer commercial service.

Oakland runs on specialty coffee. The Temescal corridor along Telegraph in 94609, the cafes around Grand Lake and Lakeshore in 94610, and the roasters tucked into Glenview off Park Boulevard in 94602 all push a lot of volume through their machines. A Slayer Espresso 2 or 3 group pulling shots all morning takes a beating, and the needle valve flow profiling that makes these machines worth owning is also what fails first when scale builds up in the line.

We are based in San Ramon, about 30 to 40 minutes out depending on the bridge and 24 traffic. We service Slayer as an independent shop, not a factory-authorized one, so you get a straight diagnosis and a written quote before anything gets touched. Most Oakland calls are brew group and water-side issues driven by hard line water, which is why descaling and a proper filter setup come up on almost every visit.

$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. Repair parts are covered for 6 months; consumables are covered for 90 days.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

  • Needle valve and actuator service. The flow control needle valve and its actuator are the heart of a Slayer. When profiling goes mushy or the lever sticks, we clean or rebuild the valve and source the actuator parts through Slayer.
  • Group seals and gaskets. Group head leaking or shots channeling on a high-volume Temescal machine usually means worn seals and gaskets. We replace them and check the portafilter fit.
  • Brew and steam solenoids. A solenoid that won't open or close drops a group offline mid-rush. We test the brew and steam solenoids and swap the failed coil or valve body.
  • Descaling and water filtration. Oakland line water lays scale on the boiler element and probe. We descale the machine and set up filtration so it doesn't come back in three months.
