Slayer in Emeryville
Slayer commercial service.
On a Slayer Steam machine, weak or stuck steam usually comes down to the steam solenoid, the steam boiler element or scale in the steam path. The barista notices first: milk takes longer to texture, the wand spits, or steam fades partway through a pitcher. Those symptoms separate on the bench once the machine runs under load.
Emeryville is mostly multi-unit buildings and commercial districts, from the Powell Street and Bay Street area to the Shellmound corridor, so pickup takes some planning. Tell us about loading docks, freight elevators and building hours when you book. EBMUD water is soft to moderate, which helps, but the steam side still collects scale over time. The written quote comes before any repair.

Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Steam solenoid that sticks or opens late. A sticking steam solenoid opens late or only partway, and the wand spits water before it delivers dry steam. We test the coil, rebuild or replace the valve, and check the wand's output through several pitchers.
- Steam pressure fading during a pitcher. If pressure falls away mid-pitcher, the steam boiler element may be weak or the pressure control may be set wrong. We measure recovery under a steady draw and fix the element or the control at fault. The pressure gauge gets checked against a reference too, since a gauge that reads wrong hides the real number.
- Wand tip and valve blocked with dried milk. Milk that dries inside the tip and the valve narrows the holes and throws off the texture. We clear the tip, replace worn valve seals, and show whoever runs the bar a purge routine that keeps it clear.

FAQ
Slayer in Emeryville questions, answered.
-
Our Slayer is in an office building with a loading dock. How does pickup work?
Give us the dock hours, the contact who will meet us, and any building rules. The machine should be off and cold, disconnected from water and drain, with the portafilters removed. It goes out on a cart and comes back the same way. -
Is it the steam boiler or the solenoid when steam goes weak?
If steam is weak from the start, look at the solenoid and the tip. If it starts strong and fades, the element or the pressure control is the likelier cause. We test both, since a scaled boiler can show either symptom. -
How often should the steam wand be purged?
Before and after every pitcher. A short purge clears condensed water first and milk residue afterward. Wipe the wand straight after steaming so milk does not dry on the tip. -
What does the Slayer pickup deposit cover?
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. -
How long does Slayer bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Slayer coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
