Faema in Vallejo

Vallejo's water runs hard, and a Faema boiler or heat exchanger heats that water all day and keeps the minerals. The crust builds on the element and the inside walls until the machine heats slowly, and then one morning the element quits. On an E61 Legend or an E71, scale in the heat exchanger also narrows the flow to the group, so shots start running short and cool before anything fails outright.

We collect the machine from downtown, Glen Cove, Hiddenbrooke or Mare Island and bring it to our bench. There we descale what needs it, test the element and the level probe, and put the full repair in a written quote before any part changes. Faema is part of the La Cimbali group out of Italy, and these machines are built to be worth fixing.

What we repair on the bench.

Heating element burned out under scale. An element buried in scale runs hotter than it was designed to and eventually opens. We confirm it with a meter, replace it, and descale the boiler so the new element does not start life under the same crust.
Heat exchanger choked with scale. When the heat exchanger narrows, water reaches the group slowly and at the wrong temperature. We descale the exchanger and the lines feeding the group, then check brew temperature and flow before the machine is reassembled.
Scale protection on hard water. Real filtration on the inlet is the cheapest protection a Faema has on Vallejo water. We recommend a filter sized to your volume and write the cartridge change interval on the ticket, so the next descale is planned instead of forced.
