Faema in Benicia
Faema commercial service.
A Faema decides when to fill its boiler by reading a level probe. Benicia's water is moderately hard, and the hardness shifts as the supply moves between the State Water Project, Lake Berryessa and Lake Herman. Scale on the probe makes it misread the water line, so the machine overfills, underfills or short-cycles the element, and the steam comes out wet or weak.
We pick the machine up from a counter near First Street and the waterfront, or from a studio in the Arsenal Historic District, and take it to our bench. We watch several fill cycles, clean or replace the probe, and check the element it was protecting. The written quote comes before any work. We service Faema as an independent shop, not a factory-authorized dealer.
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Level probe misreading the boiler. Minerals bridge the probe to the boiler wall, and the controller loses track of the water line. We clean the probe or replace it, then watch the autofill through several cycles until it stops at the right level every time.
- Element short-cycling on a fouled probe. When the probe misreads, the element can switch on and off far more often than it should, and that wears it out. We test the element while the machine is open and replace it if the cycling has damaged it.
- Wet steam after an overfill. An overfilled boiler leaves too little room for steam, so the wand spits water into the pitcher. We correct the fill level, clear any scale on the steam valve, and test the wand until it runs dry.

FAQ
Faema in Benicia questions, answered.
-
Why does our Faema keep filling after the boiler is full?
The level probe is most likely fouled, or its wire has lost contact, so the controller never gets the signal to stop. On the bench we clean the probe, check the wiring and watch the autofill complete a run of cycles before we sign off. -
Does Benicia water change enough to affect our filter?
It can. The hardness varies with the source, and a cartridge sized for the gentler water runs out sooner when the harder supply is in the mix. We note the scale inside the boiler and suggest a change interval based on your volume. -
Can you collect a Teorema from a studio in the Arsenal?
Yes. The Arsenal, First Street, Southampton and the Eastside are all in our pickup area. We set a window, collect the machine and return it to the same spot once the approved repair is finished. -
What does the Faema pickup deposit cover?
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. -
How long does Faema bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Faema coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
