Faema in Berkeley

Berkeley is dense coffee country. The cafes in the Gourmet Ghetto on North Shattuck, the bars down Telegraph near campus, and the roasters in West Berkeley all run hard, and a Faema in 94703, 94704, or 94705 gets pushed through long days. High volume means group seals and solenoids wear faster, and EBMUD water keeps scale building in the boiler. We work on these as an independent shop, not a factory-authorized one.

From San Ramon it is about 35 to 45 minutes through the tunnel to North Berkeley. We carry common E61 group and brew solenoid parts so a busy Shattuck or Telegraph bar is not stuck waiting on a seal.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

High-volume E61 group rebuild. Berkeley cafes run the group all day, so gaskets and seals wear out. We pull and rebuild the E61-style group on Legend and Jubile machines so it stops dripping and pulls clean.
Brew and steam solenoid replacement. Heavy use plus EBMUD water kills solenoids. We swap brew and steam solenoids on E71 and Teorema machines so the group and steam wand fire and cut off cleanly.
Multi-boiler descaling and element. On multi-boiler Faema machines scale hits the brew boiler first. We descale, test the elements, and replace a failed one so each boiler holds its set temperature.
Pump and pressure diagnosis. Weak shots or no pressure on a slammed machine usually trace to the pump. We test line pressure and the pump and replace it when it is worn out.
