Faema in Alameda

Faema commercial service.

Alameda runs on an island water supply that is hard on plumbed espresso machines, and the cafes along Park Street and Webster Street feel it first. Scale builds in heat exchangers and clogs solenoids, and a Faema sitting behind the bar in 94501 or 94502 will show it as slow recovery or a group that drips. We service these as an independent shop, not a factory-authorized one, and we are straight about that.

From San Ramon it is roughly 35 to 45 minutes over the bridge depending on traffic. We carry common E61-style group gaskets and brew solenoid parts in the van so a Park Street cafe is not down for days waiting on a single seal.

$150 pickup deposit. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. Repair parts are covered for 6 months; consumables are covered for 90 days.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

  • E61 group gasket and seal replacement. Faema invented the E61 group, and the brew seal is the first wear part to go. We pull the group, replace the gasket and seals, and reset the lever so it stops leaking around the portafilter.
  • Brew and steam solenoid service. Alameda water scales solenoid valves fast. We clean or swap the brew and steam solenoids on E71, Teorema, and Emblema machines so the group fires clean and steam cuts off when it should.
  • Heat-exchanger descaling. Slow steam recovery on a heat-exchanger Faema usually means scale. We descale the exchanger and check the element so the boiler holds temperature through a morning rush.
  • Pump and level probe diagnosis. A machine that will not fill or builds no pressure is usually the pump or the level probe. We test both, descale the probe, and replace the pump if it is worn.
