Viking in Santa Clara
Viking in Santa Clara kitchens.
Santa Clara is a mix of mid-century homes around the Old Quad and the University neighborhoods and newer builds over in Rivermark. It's a mainstream-appliance city for the most part, and a full Viking Professional kitchen is less common here than out in the Los Altos Hills. The ones we service tend to be in remodeled Old Quad houses or the higher-end Rivermark townhomes.
In Santa Clara the calls that reach us often involve the rangetop ignition and the ventilation. A Viking rangetop where the burners spark but won't catch, or a professional hood and blower that's gone quiet or loud, are the two we see most. On the ignition side it's usually a spark module or a fouled electrode. On the ventilation side it's a worn blower motor or a failed switch. Both are things a mainstream tech tends to shy away from on heavy Viking gear.
We're an independent shop, based up in San Ramon, and we're not factory-affiliated with Viking. EPA 608 certified, CSLB #1136642. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you approve the work, and you always see a written quote before we order parts.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Rangetop spark ignition and electrodes. When a Viking rangetop sparks but the head won't light, the electrode is usually fouled or cracked, or the module is weak. We clean or replace the electrode, verify the gap, and swap the module if the spark is inconsistent so each burner lights cleanly.
- Professional ventilation and blower motor. A Viking hood or in-line blower that hums, rattles, or barely pulls air usually has a worn motor bearing or a failed speed control. We test the motor windings, check the switch and capacitor, and replace the blower assembly so the ventilation clears the cooktop the way it should.
- Rangetop valve and simmer adjustment. A burner that lights but can't hold a low simmer has a worn or dirty gas valve. We pull and clean the burner assembly, check the orifice, and adjust the simmer valve so the low setting stays lit instead of flaming out.

FAQ
Viking in Santa Clara questions, answered.
-
My Viking rangetop clicks but won't light, what is that?
Almost always the igniter electrode or the spark module. A fouled or cracked electrode gives a weak spark, and a failing module fires the wrong way. We test both and replace only the part that is actually bad. -
Santa Clara is a fair way from San Ramon, do you still come out?
We do. We run down 680 through the Pleasanton side, about an hour to most Santa Clara neighborhoods. We batch our South Bay visits so the distance does not add to your bill. -
Is Viking common in Santa Clara homes?
It's the exception, not the rule. Most of the city runs standard appliances. The Viking kitchens we service are mostly in remodeled Old Quad homes and upper-end Rivermark builds. We're glad to work on them wherever they are.
