Viking in Benicia
Viking in Benicia kitchens.
A good share of Benicia's houses went up between 1970 and 1995, and many of those kitchens have since been remodeled around a Viking rangetop with wall ovens beside it. Rangetops take daily abuse. After a boil-over or a wet wipe-down, moisture gets into a burner box, one spark electrode keeps firing, and every burner on the top ticks along with it. It sounds like the whole control failed. Usually it has not.
We dry the burner box, clean the cap and the ports, and replace the electrode or the spark module only if the part has actually failed. Our technician is based right here in Benicia. We service Viking as an independent shop, licensed under CSLB #1136642. Every visit opens with a $99 diagnostic that is credited toward the repair, and the written quote comes before any part is ordered.
Common repairs we handle.
- Rangetop that keeps clicking after cleaning. Sealed burners spark to re-ignite, so a cracked electrode or a damp burner box keeps the whole top ticking. We find the burner that is shorting, dry and clean it, and test each ignition point before replacing any part.
- Wall oven running hot or cold. When a wall oven overshoots or never reaches temperature, we measure the cavity against the set point, check the door gasket and hinges for heat loss, and test the temperature sensor and bake element. Then we replace what failed and run a full preheat.
- Built-in refrigerator with a blank or frozen control. A Viking built-in whose display goes dark or stops responding can have a control board fault, a loose connection, or a supply problem. We trace power and signals to the board before quoting one, and our technician is EPA 608 Type I certified if the sealed system is involved.

FAQ
Viking in Benicia questions, answered.
-
Why does our Viking rangetop keep clicking long after we wipe it down?
Water has found its way under a burner cap or into the burner box, and the wet electrode keeps sparking. Take the caps off and let the burners air-dry. If the clicking continues once everything is dry, a cracked electrode or a failing spark module is likely, and we test both. -
Can the Viking rangetop in our remodeled Eastside kitchen switch between natural gas and propane?
It can, but the orifices have to match the gas type, since Viking sets natural gas and propane at different manifold pressures. A mismatch leaves yellow, sooty flames or a burner that will not simmer. We check the orifices against the gas supply before anything else. -
Do you replace Viking wall oven door gaskets?
Yes. A worn gasket lets heat escape around the door, the oven runs longer to keep up, and the kitchen warms up with it. We replace the gasket and check the hinges, because a door that does not close square will ruin a new gasket too.
