Viking in Richmond
Viking in Richmond kitchens.
Richmond runs from the flat blocks off Cutting and Garrard up into the older homes along Mira Vista and Richmond Hills. Most kitchens here run mainstream ranges. A true Viking Professional range is rarer in Richmond than it is out in Alamo or Blackhawk, and I'll say that plainly. The ones we do find sit mostly in Point Richmond bungalows that got a serious remodel, or in the hillside houses above the Marina, and they are heavy gear that needs someone who knows the burner system.
Viking rangetops in this area take a beating from salt air off the bay. The spark igniters and ceramic electrodes corrode faster near the waterfront in Marina Bay and Brickyard Cove than they do inland. When one head ticks away without lighting, or the whole bank sparks at once, that is usually the module or a cracked igniter, not the whole cooktop.
We're an independent shop based in San Ramon. I'm EPA 608 certified, we carry CSLB #1136642, and the $75 diagnostic gets waived when you approve the repair. You see a written quote before we order any part.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Rangetop burner igniters and spark modules. On Viking 5 and 7-Series rangetops, the spark-but-no-flame fault usually traces to a fouled igniter electrode or a failed module. Grease and bay-air corrosion both play a part near the waterfront. We clean or replace the electrode, check the wiring harness for green corrosion, and swap the module if it is firing every burner at once.
- Sealed burner and gas valve service. A weak or uneven flame on a Viking burner is often a clogged burner port or a worn simmer valve, not a gas supply problem. We pull and clean the burner caps, verify the orifice size, and adjust the valve so a low simmer holds instead of going out.
- Oven thermostat and temperature sensor. If the oven runs hot or cold against the dial, the sensor or the electronic control has drifted. We test the sensor resistance cold, compare it against a calibrated probe at temperature, and replace the sensor or recalibrate the control so bake temps hold true.

FAQ
Viking in Richmond questions, answered.
-
Do you actually get Viking calls in Richmond?
We do, though fewer than in the Tri-Valley. Real Viking Professional kitchens cluster in Point Richmond and the Mira Vista hills where homes got full remodels. In the flatter neighborhoods they are rarer. Either way we service them. -
How long does it take you to reach Richmond from your San Ramon base?
We run out through Danville and then across the bridge or up I-80, usually about 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. We book a two-hour arrival window so you are not waiting all morning. -
Will bay air keep wrecking my igniters?
Salt air does shorten the life of exposed electrodes near the water. We can't change the marine climate, but we replace with the correct part and check the harness for corrosion so it lasts as long as it should.
