Viking in Atherton
Viking in Atherton kitchens.
Atherton estates keep their kitchens quiet and cold. Behind the gates in Lindenwood and along the lanes off Selby and Fair Oaks, the built-in refrigeration is often a Viking column or a paneled side-by-side matched to the cabinetry. When one of these units starts to warm, the owner usually notices the food before any alarm.
The problem I am called for most in Atherton is the sealed system. A Viking built-in that never stops running, frosts up behind the panel, or lets the box creep past 40 degrees is telling you the cold side is in trouble, and the cause runs anywhere from a failing evaporator fan to a slow leak in the sealed loop. Sealed-system work is not a part you swap on a guess. It needs proper diagnosis and EPA 608 handling, which we carry.
ADRIUM is an independent shop based in San Ramon and run by Andrew Kuznetsov. I do not carry a Viking dealer badge, and I would rather tell you straight whether a compressor is worth the repair on an older column than sell you a job. We give a written quote before we open any sealed system, and we work under CSLB #1136642.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Built-in refrigeration that cannot hold temperature. A Viking built-in that drifts warm usually has a sealed-system fault, a dead evaporator fan, or a defrost circuit choking off the airflow. We work out which one before we ever touch refrigerant, since a fan or defrost fix is far cheaper than opening the loop. When there is a real leak, we handle it under EPA 608 rules and quote it in writing first.
- Oven controls and sensors that throw error codes. Viking wall ovens in these kitchens run off an electronic control that can fault when the temperature sensor or a relay fails. We read the code, test the sensor against the board, and decide whether the fix is a sensor, a relay, or the control itself. I will not replace a whole board when a sensor is the real problem.
- Range igniters and spark modules on the cooking suite. Many Atherton kitchens pair the built-in refrigerator with a Viking range. When a surface burner snaps at the spark but never takes flame, or several heads light the igniter at the same moment, the spark module or an igniter switch is the usual cause. We test the module and the switches, clean or replace the failed part, and confirm each head lights on its own.

FAQ
Viking in Atherton questions, answered.
-
Do you come to Atherton from the East Bay?
Yes. We are based in San Ramon and drive to Atherton by way of 680 and the Dumbarton, coming up through Palo Alto into town. It is a longer trip than our East Bay work, so we set a firm appointment window and stick to it. -
The refrigerator is paneled to match the cabinets. Can you still service it?
We can. Viking built-ins in Atherton are almost always panel-ready and framed into the millwork. We remove and refit the panel carefully, and we protect the cabinetry while we work. -
How does the diagnostic and quote work?
The diagnostic is $75 and is waived when you approve the repair. For any sealed-system job we give you the full written quote before we open the refrigerant loop, so there are no surprises.
