Viking in Fremont
Viking in Fremont kitchens.
Fremont is a mix. Most of the city is tract housing through Irvington, Centerville, and Warm Springs, where a full Viking lineup is not the norm. The bigger custom homes sit up in the Mission San Jose hills, where I see 36 and 48 inch Viking ranges in kitchens that were remodeled for the view. Luxury built-ins are less common here than in an estate town, but they are here, and we service them.
The call I get most in Fremont is a Viking burner that ticks repeatedly without ever catching. On the 5 and 7 Series sealed burners, the spark igniter and the shared module take a beating from spillovers and grease. When one head sets off the spark on all the others, that is usually a cracked igniter or a tired module, not the whole cooktop.
We are an independent shop based in San Ramon, so a run down to Fremont is a normal day for us. I bring Viking parts common to the 5 and 7 Series, EPA 608 certified and licensed under CSLB #1136642, so the parts a range job usually needs are already on the van.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Range burner igniters and spark modules. Viking sealed burners use one igniter per burner and a shared spark module. When a burner keeps ticking after it lights, or the whole bank sparks together, the igniter has usually cracked or the module is failing. We test each igniter, check the module output, and replace the failed part. I also clean the burner ports, because a clogged port often looks like an ignition fault when the gas simply is not reaching the flame.
- Oven ignitor and slow bake ignition. On a Viking range oven, weak or slow ignition points to a bake ignitor that no longer draws enough current to open the gas valve. We measure the ignitor current, confirm the safety valve, and replace the ignitor. If the oven then runs hot or cold, we check the temperature sensor before we touch the control board.
- Rangetop grates and burner cap alignment. On separate Viking rangetops, warped grates and misaligned burner caps are common after years of heavy pots. We reseat the caps, verify the flame pattern is blue and even, and replace any burner base that has corroded from spillover. It is small work, but it is what keeps the cooktop lighting cleanly and safely.

FAQ
Viking in Fremont questions, answered.
-
How long does it take you to reach Fremont from San Ramon?
We run I-680 south through Pleasanton, then down toward Union City and into Fremont. Depending on traffic it is a 30 to 45 minute drive, and we book Fremont visits in blocks so we are not rushing between jobs. -
Do you work on Viking if the kitchen is up in the Mission San Jose hills?
Yes. Many of the larger Viking kitchens in Fremont are up in those hills, and the narrow driveways are not a problem for us. I just need the range size ahead of time so I bring the right igniters and grates. -
What does the visit cost?
The diagnostic is $75, and we waive it if you approve the repair. We give you a written quote before any work starts, so you see the part and labor before you decide. We do not quote a repair price over the phone without seeing the appliance.
