- Viking ventilation hood blower running weak or noisy. This is the lead Viking call in Menlo Park. A hood that used to clear the rangetop and now barely pulls, or rattles and hums, usually has a tired blower motor, worn bearings, or a control switch that is not driving the motor to full speed. We test the motor and the speed control, clean or replace the blower, and confirm it moves air the way it should over a live burner.
- Rangetop burner that will not hold a low simmer. When a Viking burner jumps from a rough flame straight to off with no usable simmer in between, the cause is usually a dirty or worn gas valve or a partly blocked orifice. We clean the burner and orifice, check the valve action, and adjust or replace the simmer components so you get smooth control from high down to a true low.
- Built-in refrigeration door and gasket wear. On the paneled built-in fridges common in these kitchens, a gasket that has hardened or a door that no longer sits flush lets cold air escape and makes the unit run constantly. We replace the gasket, adjust the door alignment and closer, and verify the seal so the compressor is not fighting a leak all day.

How far is Menlo Park from your San Ramon shop?
We take I-680 down to Highway 84 and cross the Dumbarton Bridge, coming in through Palo Alto and Atherton, both bordering Menlo Park. It runs about 40 to 50 minutes depending on bridge traffic. The Mid-Peninsula is a regular route for us. -
My Viking hood is not clearing smoke anymore. Is that fixable or do I replace it?
Most of the time it is fixable. A weak hood is usually the blower motor, the bearings, or the speed control, and those are replaceable parts. I check whether the ducting is clear too, because a blocked run can make a healthy hood look weak. I would rule that out before anyone talks about a new unit. -
